How to Maintain the Lithium Batteries of Lithium Battery Electric Locomotives?

The lithium battery is the core component of lithium battery electric locomotives, ensuring long-term and efficient operation. To extend battery lifespan and maintain vehicle safety, operators and maintenance personnel should follow these professional maintenance guidelines:

1. Precautions Before First Use

Before installation, check the battery’s voltage and state of charge (SOC). Ensure the SOC is within the normal range of 30%-90%.

Verify that the battery connectors’ positive and negative terminals match the locomotive’s terminals.

2. Proper Start-Up and Shut-Down Procedures

Use the correct process to start and shut down the locomotive. Long-press the green button for 3 seconds to start and 5 seconds to shut down.

Ensure the battery plug is connected, and the controller is in the neutral position (0) before starting. This prevents damage to the connectors.

3. Battery Charging

Charge the battery promptly when the buzzer alarm flashes during operation to prevent the locomotive from stopping mid-journey.

During charging, first connect the charger plug to the battery plug, then turn on the charger. After charging, switch off the charger power before disconnecting the plugs.

4. Battery Maintenance

Operate the battery within a temperature range of -10°C to 45°C. Avoid humid or overly sunny conditions.

If unused for an extended period, recharge the battery every three months to maintain an SOC of 50%.

Handle the battery gently during installation and removal, avoiding excessive vibration or impact.

5. Handling Faults

In case of a fault, the battery display will show the cause and issue an alarm. Contact the manufacturer or a professional technician immediately to prevent further damage.

By following these maintenance guidelines, the lithium battery of electric locomotives can remain in optimal condition, extending its lifespan and improving vehicle reliability and safety. Regular care is essential for ensuring long-term and efficient operation of electric locomotives.
